Welcome to Nischal’s Blog.

I really appreciate you visiting my website, and I hope you enjoy my work. I want to explain a bit about myself, about the site and why I’m here, so I can give you a better understanding of what you are reading.

Who am I?

My name is Nischal Schwager-Patel, and I’m a journalist from London, United Kingdom. I have British-Swiss-Indian heritage, all of which I am all extremely proud of.

Journalism has been a lifelong dream and passion for me, ever since I was a kid writing match reports for school homework. I am now focused on growing my brand, developing my expertise and pursuing the career that I have dreamt of for years.

By reading, engaging with and sharing my work, you are helping to support a young journalist. I hugely appreciate every read, share and follow, and it all genuinely means so much to me.

Who have I written for?

I have been able to write for many companies over the years, having the opportunity to work with some of the world’s most renowned outlets.

I have written for football news site 90min, British newspaper The Guardian and world football organisation FIFA.

I have also written pieces for The Football Association and the Gibraltar FA, international news agency Reuters and financial publication International Financing Review, as well as featuring on German television broadcaster ZDF.

Why did I create a blog?

There are two main reasons I founded Nischal’s Blog.

Firstly, I wanted to start publishing my own, original articles, on a website I run completely by myself. I wanted to be able to create my own content, editing and choosing the topics as and when I wish.

I also wanted to gain experience with skills like running a website, managing social media platforms and professionally editing articles – both in the writing itself and how its presentation on the site.

Secondly, I wanted to build up a portfolio. You will notice that, alongside all of my articles I have written on my site, you can find all of the work I have done for various outlets, including matchday programmes, YouTube channels and podcasts.

Having my site is an online portfolio for myself and my work, which anyone in the worl can see. I intend for my site to be a place where you can read all of my work, find out about me and get in touch with me for whatever reason.

What do I write about?

The two main topics I write about are the ones I am most passionate about- football and politics. Whether it is Chelsea or Brexit, Switzerland or the government, I am always eager to give my opinions and cover anything in the worlds of sports and global affairs.

You can also read my exclusive interviews with an array of noteworthy people. I have interviewed Members of Parliament, active and retired footballers and high-profile commentators, with many more to come in the near future.

As well as football and politics, I write about a broad range of subjects, including documentary reviews and global affairs. Whether it is debating why Love Island should be cancelled or how English pride has become controversial, you can find a range of topics and interesting debates covered here.

I hope you enjoy reading my work as much as I enjoy writing it. If you like what you see, you can follow the blog to get my articles straight into your inbox. You can also follow my Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts for regular updates, as well as seeing when my articles come out – I truly appreciate all the support.
