The January transfer window is just days away, and there’s a lot of business to be done.

With new reinforcements required for Maurizio Sarri’s side, Chelsea will certainly be busy. However there are also a number of Chelsea players who look to be on their way out, amid recent transfer gossip.

So with the transfer window right around the corner, here are six Chelsea players who look likely to leave the club in January. Along with my thoughts and input, you can vote for what you think each player should do in the Twitter polls throughout the article.

Gary Cahill

After almost seven years, it looks like time is up for Chelsea’s captain. Cahill has been heavily linked with a move away in January, with Fulham, West Ham and Monaco interested in signing the 33-year-old.

Cahill has had an illustrious career at Chelsea, which includes winning two Premier Leagues and the Champions League. However having just seven times this season, he seems ready to move on from Stamford Bridge.

Álvaro Morata

One of Chelsea’s pantomime villains, Morata has struggled and just doesn’t look happy. The Spaniard looks deflated, unconfident and plays like he isn’t enjoying his football. He clearly needs to leave Chelsea as soon as possible.

Although he’s the Blues’ second top scorer this season with seven goals, he’s had a poor and painful season. Real Betis and Barcelona have expressed interest in him, with a potential loan swap deal with Gonzalo Higuaín at Milan on the cards.

Cesc Fàbregas

With the arrivals of Jorginho and Mateo Kovačić in the summer, Fàbregas has struggled to get into the Chelsea midfield. After four-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge, it looks like time is finally up for the man with the magic hat.

Spanish newspaper Marca have reported that Fàbregas is already preparing to leave in January, with sources close to the negotiation confirming that it will be a ‘European project.’ It will be a shame to see him go, but it will be for the best.

Danny Drinkwater

Another midfielder moved down the pecking order due to the summer signings, Drinkwater looks like he’ll be going. In my article about what Chelsea need to do in January, I said that it’s time for him to leave after just a year-and-a-half.

West Ham are reported to be interested in Drinkwater, who hasn’t played since August. He has not and won’t be used by Sarri, which Sarri himself admitted when saying that there is no place for him in the team, as reported by the BBC.

Andreas Christensen

Christensen’s transfer fiasco has been ongoing all season, with his father/agent saying he’ll leave if he doesn’t get any game time. Having made ten appearances this season, it looks like the Dane is destined to leave Stamford Bridge.

Barcelona have shown interest in Christensen, though The Daily Mail said that Chelsea won’t let him go. It is a shame for the 22-year-old, who was a regular last season under Antonio Conte but has now completely fallen out of favour.

Victor Moses

With six appearances this season, Moses is another Chelsea player who is likely to leave. 90min reported that his former club Crystal Palace want to bring him back, with the Nigerian also keen to return to Selhurst Park.

Moses was another favourite of Conte, playing 78 times under the former Chelsea manager. However he has massively fallen out of favour under Sarri, and looks likely to take the opportunity to leave Stamford Bridge for good.

Only time will tell what the future of these six players will be, but what we do know is that Maurizio Sarri has a big transfer window ahead of him. He has four weeks to decide who stays and who goes, and his decisions could define the rest of Chelsea’s season.

  1. I’d like more depth in your article than just stating facts. The above article does not provide any new information than what’s out there in the other 100 articles. Try to be more insightful in talking about Moses or Cahill’s lack of abilities in a Sarri system or what Christensen could potentially do to get back. Who would be an alternative to Jorginho if Fabregas goes.

    Good luck and continue writing
